Hello! I am the owner of Cheyenne Schultz Photography - a wedding and portrait photography business located in Charlotte, North Carolina. I have been photographing newborn babies and their families since 2008 and have even had 4 babies of my own!
The idea for this guide was born during the COVID-19 crisis after my state enacted a stay at home order requiring quarantine, leaving me unable to photograph the newborn sessions that my clients had booked me for. My heart really broke for the parents that had been looking forward to having the littleness of their new babies captured soon after they were born.
I wanted to figure out a way for them to still be able to do that. Equipping them with what they needed to do it themselves felt like the next best option.
I’m so glad you found your way to this guide. I can’t wait to teach you how to get beautiful photographs of your newborn baby using only your phone!

Yes! While this guide was written with photographing a newborn baby in mind, the concepts taught are applicable for older infants as well. In fact, I hope that you will be able to apply what you have learned about photographing your baby and editing with your phone as he/she grows through the first year and beyond!
WILL THIS WORK FOR BABIES THAT ARE OUT OF THE NEWBORN PHASE?
This guide isn’t meant to replace the services of a professional photographer, but will hopefully serve as a “next best option” for those that are unable to or are not comfortable with hiring a professional at this time. Keep in mind that the photographs you take with your phone will be low resolution.
